A new PMHNP- taking new patients Fri, 02 Oct 2015 20:57:54 +0000 Read More

Caroline Jones Redstone is a new psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner specializing in perinatal and LGBTQ needs. She’s opened a new private practice in inner NE Portland. Skilled in reproductive psychiatry, she works with clients on postpartum depression anxiety, bipolar disorder, grief, difficulty coping with infertility or losses, unusual and repetitive thoughts that are disturbing, birth trauma, sleep issues, bonding issues, and anger or irritability. She is also interested in providing support during pregnancy and menopause.
A PMHNP is able to provide a full spectrum care able to assess, diagnose and manage the mental health of individuals – including treatment with psychotropic medications. Often it can be very valuable for parents who are struggling to see one person for complete care. Baby Blues Connection is happy to share information about Caroline and other PMHNPs, therapists and resources in the area. Just give us a call.
Please check out Caroline’s webpage here.

Why volunteer with us? Thu, 24 Sep 2015 21:32:46 +0000 Read More

We believe that the main reason you should want to volunteer with us is a desire to ‘give back’ to the community. Having had a personal experience with PPD/A, you know how it feels. You understand that some days feel like deep, bottomless pits of despair. Some days feel so overwhelmingly unmanageable that even talking about your feelings is just too much.

But, there are additional reasons to join us as a volunteer and here is what we can ‘give back’ to you.

What we offer

  • An opportunity to gain valuable training and experience
  • The ability to make a difference in someone’s life
  • An opportunity for personal growth
  • Peer and staff support, and experienced mentors to guide you along your way
  • Monthly meetings to gain additional education, make connections with your fellow volunteers and get support
  • Work with a diverse group of like-minded volunteers
  • Fun and exciting fundraising events
  • A community that values and appreciates what you do

And a testimonial from a former volunteer about what volunteering meant to her:

“When I first started volunteering, I was terrified that I had nothing to offer the women who were calling our line and was doubtful that I could help anyone break through the darkness that accompanies postpartum depression and anxiety. I have learned to trust the amazing power of listening and have had the opportunity to plant seeds of hope and strength in the women I talk to, which has proven to be a priceless experience.”

A new volunteer training is just weeks away. If you are interested in learning more, check in with us. We’re happy to talk with you about it!

If we don’t connect the first time Fri, 18 Sep 2015 03:49:42 +0000 Read More

This message is to all the mamas (or papas) who know about BBC, know that we provide free support services, know that we’ll be there if you call.

Sometimes, we don’t connect the first time you call.

Maybe the baby was crying. Maybe you were crying. Maybe you just didn’t recognize the number so you didn’t pick up.

There are so many maybes that can happen, so we try a second time. And a third time. But after the third time, we think that perhaps you’re feeling better. That perhaps you found some support. That perhaps you’ll call us the next time you feel down, anxious, overwhelmed, scared, like you are loosing it all…

We’re always here. Always. And if we don’t connect the first time, please try us again.

Give us a call- always Thu, 27 Aug 2015 21:54:04 +0000 Read More

Mental health is important! We all know it, but not all of us will reach out. We encourage all new families to give us a call – just to connect, just to hear what we offer.

Think of us like lactation support. It’s a given you’ll reach out to ask questions and receive support when starting your breastfeeding journey. BBC is the same. When your family expands, be in touch with Baby Blues Connection!

We’re here for you! No judgement. Just support. Give us a call.
