Volunteer opportunities are abundant at Baby Blues Connection, and we know the organization would benefit from your passion, experience and commitment to our mission. From administrative responsibilities to phone support for women and families or committee involvement, there’s a place for you here! As BBC grows, we’re very excited to welcome dads and Spanish-speakers to our volunteer community. To get started, you’ll need to submit the form below, after which you’ll be contacted by BBC’s Program Coordinator.

BBC requires all volunteers to attend our Volunteer Orientation, which is held twice per year, approximately in February and September. Once you get started, we ask for attendance at monthly volunteer meetings/trainings and commitment to whichever projects you’ve agreed to support. In return, we’ll provide 1:1 mentorship, diverse learning opportunities and a fun, energetic community.  Join us!

Seeking Board Members!

Baby Blues Connection, a 501(c)(3) non profit organization (www.babybluesconnection.org) is looking for committed, talented, energetic folks to join our Board of Directors in Portland, Oregon.

About us: Baby Blues Connection’s mission is to provide support, information and resources to women and families coping with pregnancy and postpartum mood disorders and to the professionals who serve them.

Baby Blues Connection exists to support and educate all women and families at risk for postpartum and antepartum depression and anxiety. Our 24-hour warm line is the first step. We offer mom-to-mom support groups, a Spanish-speaking group, and a meet-up group for dads. This unique model allows new members to identify with others in various stages of recovery and treatment.

Baby Blues Connection stands for this possibility: Mothers and fathers will feel heard, acknowledged and supported, and will have informed resources to turn to, so that postpartum distress is lessened or eliminated and no one will feel alone or afraid.

About the board: The board of directors plays a crucial role in fundraising, strategic planning, providing financial oversight, and providing assistance with activities ranging from event planning to organizational development. The board meets on the 1st Wednesday of every month, 7-8:30pm.

Who we’re looking for: We’re interested in drawing people from diverse backgrounds who share a commitment to our mission. We are specifically looking for those with experience and expertise in the following: finance/accounting, fundraising, the law (particularly nonprofit and/or intellectual property law), business skills, marketing, fundraising and event planning.  While specific skill sets matter, what’s just as important is bringing a high level of commitment, enthusiasm, and energy to the work.

Board Responsibilities include:

  • Participation in long-term strategic planning
  • Review and approval of organization’s annual budget
  • Attendance at monthly board meetings
  • Active participation in the organization’s annual fundraisers
  • Becoming a BBC member via a $35 contribution
  • Reaching out to your networks for fundraising and spreading the word about events
  • Making fundraising asks and attending meetings with major donors

Other things you may want to know:

•Board duties require a commitment of time and energy; we ask that you sincerely assess your capacity to meet that expectation.
•Baby Blues Connection board terms are two years, with the option to renew for an additional term.
·Board officer terms are one year, with the option to renew for an additional term.
•We work hard, but we also have lots of fun!
